How Often Should I Change

My Password?

Most computer experts and online security professionals recommend changing your Internet passwords and account login information at least once every three months. It may be safe for you to wait longer; it just depends on your computer habits, and how and where you surf the web.

Changing all of your Internet passwords every three to six months can be a time-consuming and even a frustrating task. It is important to choose a password that cannot be easily estimated or presumed. It is the people that use family or pet names as passwords that are the most vulnerable to Internet crimes. So choose a strong password and be sure to change it often. Changing your password is an easy task that can be completed in a matter of a few minutes.

When changing your password it is imperative that you keep in mind the following tips.

1. Choose a word that no one knows and no one would be able to guess.

2. Combine your chosen word with a selection or numbers or letters.

3. Consider adding a few numbers and letters for extra security.

4. Finally, make your password case-sensitive. Passwords that include both upper and lowercase letters are more difficult to figure out.

REMINDERS:  Reminders, Plug-ins, and Software

REMINDERS:

Reminder Softwares

As much as I would like All in One Support to be everyone's sole resource for reminders, IT tips / tricks, and other helpful information, there are many reminder programs out there that will annoy you enough to actually complete your tasks. Some of these softwares have other useful tools as well.

Some of these tools include:

  • Quick Reminders
  • Task Scheduler
  • Info Organizer
  • Address Book
  • Password Generator
  • ...or even when planning to take breaks

Here are a couple of companies that offer these types of services:

** Additionally (and my personal choice), there are already plug-ins for Firefox that can help with any task-related reminders. Google Calendar also manages multi-user calendars, tasks and reminders in a more simple manner.

TIPS:

Privy to Browsers?

Browsers are the key to the Internet these days, at least for most tasks. There are many, many browsers for every platform and operating system, so the choice can be tough. However, this should help narrow the search.

  1. How old is your computer? Is it a mobile device? Know your systems specifications as this may be more suited to some browsers than others.

  2. Make sure you know what platform you are on. Some browsers are only available to a certain operating system, or not available to one operating system.

  3. Research browsers. Here is a short list of browsers:

  4. See the features of all browsers you have found, and compare with what you want. Think about your ideal browser; what would it be able to do? You may want it to be quite simple, handling only the bare necessities. You may want some basic features like web feed reading, bookmarking (favorites), or search boxes. Some browsers have a lot more, and that's where it starts to get confusing.

  5. Find out if you can add features you may want such as an existing plugin or extension in the case of Firefox.

  6. Download and install your new browser!
